Comme annoncé dans un précédent article, j’ai décidé de remplacer mon transceiver actuel (Kenwood TS-950SD) par un Elecraft K3.
Le K3 est sorti, mais Elecraft les produit à un rythme assez réduit pour le moment. A l’heure actuelle, seulement une trentaine ont été livrés, en version « kit ». Les cadences devraient accélérer (Elecraft a expliqué vouloir prendre le maximum de précautions avant de « lancer la machine ») mais je n’espère pas recevoir mon poste avant Janvier-Février 2008.
En attendant, je me contente de lire tout ce qui s’écrit au sujet du K3. Il y a quelques jours, c’était le roman-photo de NZ0R montant son K3 (c’est ce qui m’attend, mais ça n’a pas l’air sorcier !). Et ce matin, c’est un article du National Contest Journal de l’ARRL qui a assouvi mon appétit.

During the IARU contest, my friend Jim, W6EU, about six miles away, obliged my request to “move in on me” to test the receiver’s response to strong nearby signals. I was delighted with the results. On 40 CW, he was S9 + 50 dB but essentially inaudible at ±1 kHz. Although high band noise probably abetted this outstanding performance, the adjacent FT-1000MP suffered annoying clicks all the way to ±3 kHz despite its 4 kHz INRAD roofing filter.
